The Healthy Chocolate Milk
Everybody loves a savoury glass of chocolate milk, particularly in the summer time. Its succulent creamy taste leaves us full and satiated, and its cool temperature leaves us feeling chilled despite the oppressive summer humidity. But for the weight conscious, the need for this tasty treat may be squashed by the worry about consuming large quantities of sugar during swimming suit season. Well, fortunately there's a way you can enjoy succulent sugar free chocolate milk!
There are two options re the chocolate itself : pre-made or home-made. If the kitchen is a foreign place to you, selecting the first option might be best. Head to your local grocery store and look for something prepackaged. Major brands like Hershey's, Sorbee, and Swiss Mix all make pre-packaged bottles of sugar free chocolate syrup or sugar free dark chocolate mix. When purchasing anything prepacked, just bear in mind that there are particular to be preservatives and synthesised food colours in the food you are consuming.
If you're a regular Betty Crocker, or if you're feeling bold, you may find the very idea of making your own sugar free chocolate more exciting. All you need for this is unsweetened cocoa powder and your favorite sugar substitute like Stevia, Splenda, or PureVia. Melt the unsweetened cocoa powder and the sugar substitute at an eleven proportion in boiling water. Permit the mix to cool down before you rigorously strain it through a coffee filter.
The next step is to find sugar free milk. You almost certainly never think about milk as having sugar in it, but one cup has about twelve grams. Lactose, a naturally occurring sugar in dairy foods, makes up about 4.5% of regular milk. Some manufacturers have created lactose free milk, but the side-effect of lactose and lactase ( the enzyme used to split up lactose ), are galactose and glucose. These byproducts are still sugars, so there isn't any dairy milk in stores which is completely sugar free.
As an alternative, you can mix 3 to four heaping spoonfuls of sugar free coffee creamer into water. This creates a milky texture and has absolutely no sugar! An even better alternative is unsweetened almond milk. Normally no sugar is added, and you continue to get to enjoy the sweet taste of almonds with your sugar free chocolate you've already prepared.
The one thing left to do is mix your sugar free chocolate and your sugar free milk together at an eleven proportion and enjoy!
